You have received a refusal

Review the reasons and appeal instructions before taking your next step.

01

Identify the reasons

Determine what the refusal is based on: missing evidence, disputed facts or a legal assessment. This affects which next steps may be appropriate.

02

Read the appeal instructions

The appeal body, deadline and any fee depend on the case type. Follow the instructions in your decision and promptly clarify any uncertainty about calculating the deadline.

03

Clarify residence and work rights separately

An appeal does not in itself guarantee that you can stay or work in Denmark. Clarify the decision’s implications for residence, work and departure, and whether suspensive effect should be requested.

04

Choose the appropriate next step

An appeal, a request to reopen a case and a new application are different routes. The choice requires an individual assessment of the decision and any new information.
